4 Tips To Remain Mindful

Living in the moment is part of leading a peaceful and positive life. Many people today are suffering from depression, anxiety, or restlessness in their day to day lives. Although we cannot change the events and conditions that have occurred in our lives, we can make powerful decisions to change the quality of the lives we lead regardless of what catastrophe or misfortune has taken place.

Mindfulness is mental state attained by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly recognizing and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations. If you want to change your outcome, you need to change your focus.

1. Practice mindfulness each morning
Many people reach for their phone to check social media, texts, or emails immediately after they wake up. Instead of getting your head wrapped up into the digital world that you’ve missed while you were asleep, take a moment to be mindful. You can practice mindfulness in the morning by meditating, praying, or simply sitting quiet for a moment.

2. Meditate
You can meditate in any point of your day. You should try meditating at least once a day. It doesn’t have to be a long duration; it can be 10 to 20 minutes.

3. Go for a walk
Nature and the outdoors has a calming effect on all of us. Being in nature can help reduce feelings of fear, anger, and stress. It has a very calming effect on your body because it aids in lowering your stress hormones.

4. Savor the moment
If there’s a sunset, a beautiful bird, a color that has caught your eye – pause and take a mental note. Anything that appeals to your senses, emotions, or mind is a reason to pause. Make it a point to stop and appreciate it the moment – these moments are your life!
