6 Ways To Avoid Temptation

Avoiding temptation can be one of the hardest parts of staying on track of your health and fitness goals. It can be extremely difficult to stay on track when you are surrounded by family, friends, and colleagues that do not have the same goals or standards you do. There is nothing wrong with the way they chose to live their lifestyle, but often times it will make the difference of hitting or missing your own goal.

1. Reduce exposure
If you are trying to take yourself to the next level, you can start by avoiding any exposure to temptation that will lead you to the wrong path. If you are trying to lose weight, do not put yourself in situations where you will be tempted. This means avoiding the same old spots that got you to where you are today.

2. Join a group
Although your journey should be self-motivated, it helps to have a community or a group that has similar goals and aspirations as you do. You can learn from one another and offer support and guidance. It helps to have like minded people who are taking a similar journey.

3. Think of the consequences
The new year has just come in. The new year brings new possibilities and pursuits, only if you take the right actions. Before you act on temptation, think of where this choice will lead you. It can lead you closer or further to your goal.

4. Distract yourself
There is no better way to avoid temptation by distracting yourself with another activity or action. The action can be very simple: you can respond to an email, shoot a text back, or even call a friend or family member.

5. Make strategic sacrifices
On your new found journey, you will have to sacrifice actions and habits that left you in a rut. You might have to say no to going out to eat with your friends. You may have to say no to bringing donuts into the office on a Friday morning. Nothing great can be accomplished without some form of sacrifice.

6. Envision your success
Your imagination is a powerful tool that can be used to reach your goals in a more rapid and effective manner. Imagine what you would look like when you reach your goal and how it would feel.
