Immune Boosting Vegetables

There is no better time to boost your immune system than now. Your vegetables are number one during a time like this. Covid19 has many negatives but there are some positives – we can all change our eating habits for the better. Earth’s gift to us humans in terms of nutrition and health are vegetables – it’s time to rethink your relationship with these green gifts.

Vegetables should be making up most of your dishes for at least 2 to 3 of your meals. Nutritional experts recommend 2 to 3 servings of vegetables per day. So, think to yourself, do you get enough vegetables?

Spinach
With an abundance of vitamins and minerals, spinach is more than ready to boost your immune system. Spinach has a high amount of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E. These leafy vegetables help fight off infections as well as replenish the blood cells. Spinach has a high amount of antioxidants and beta carotene. Both of these agents help your body fight off infection.

Broccoli
If you’re aging, broccoli can be an extra help for you. Broccoli posses a chemical that switches on a set of antioxidant genes and enzymes in specific immune cells. Free radicals are present in our environment. They can lead to damage to many parts of your body. Broccoli can act as a shield towards them.

Red Bell Pepper pumps up your skin and immune system. It’s rich in Vitamin A and ahs enough to fulfill your RDA. It packs a big punch because it is important for your mucous membranes and your immunity.

Garlic
Sure, you might not want to eat this member on the list before a big date or a day you’re meeting a lot of new people. But in the comfort and confines of your own kitchen, indulge in garlic as if you’re a vampire. Garlic contains compounds that help your immune system fight germs because it contains a compound called allicin. It comes out of garlic when it’s crushed and chewed.
