You may have passed a period in your life that was extremely hard and you had to face a difficult situation. You can even be training for a competition and the obstacles you face each day can damper your motivation and drive. Facing adversity is part of being human – it has literally enveloped the human experience from the beginning. So has the overcoming of adversity. Life does not get easier but you will get tougher and more resilient in the face of great challenges. Whether the challenges are health, fitness, or relationship related – there are skills and techniques to overcome any adversity you may face.
1. Develop faith over fear
Fear is an emotion that is used to protect you. That is why you experience a tinge of fear when you are close to the edge of a cliff or you see a large and ferocious animal. Fear is only meant to keep you safe in certain situations, it shouldn’t rule your life on the day to day. Fear is a very low emotion that can be replaced with faith.
2. Surround yourself with positivity
Overtly negative people and surroundings can suck the energy and life out of you. Luckily, there is no shortage of positive people and groups you can be a part of in your local community and even online. Whether you are facing a challenge related to health or school, there is a group somewhere that is sharing stories and uplifting one another.
3. Be in nature
Nature has very therapeutic qualities on the psyche. Studies show that it can elevate feelings of depression, sadness, and lack of focus. Set a timer each day to be out in nature for 20 minutes to an hour or more.
4. Invest in yourself
You can always invest in yourself, even if you have little money. You can attend a class or a workshop, learn a new skill, or develop a new hobby. They all enrich your inner world which will reflect outwardly.
