Pizza: To Eat Or Not To Eat

Pizza is one of the world’s most popular foods, especially in the Western World. The building blocks of pizza are dough, tomato sauce, and toppings such as cheese. Pizza can range from the simple cheese pizza to a plethora of toppings. You will often find pizza served at a party or get together.

The dough can come in various ways. It can be deep dish, thick crust, stuffed crust, and thin crust. It all depends on your preference.

According to studies, Americans eat up to 3 billion pizzas per year. Every second, 350 pizza slices are sold. Now that’s a lot of pizza! That includes cheese pizza, veggie pizza, Hawaiian pizza, meat pizza, and more.

The question arises is pizza good for you? If we seem to be eating so much of it, let’s dive into the ins and outs of pizza.

The average slice of pizza contains 285 calories. The dough provides up to 36 grams of carbohydrates per slice. The toppings can add a lot more calories depending on what you choose. There is in imbalance because you’re getting way more carbohydrates than any other macronutrient ratio of carbs or fats.

The large amounts of cheese and processed meats are not beneficial for your health either. The processed meats are high in sodium and calories. Enjoy your pizza every now and then, but don’t over indulge.

Losing Weight
If you’re trying to lose weight, stick to one to two slices of pizza every once and a while. Choose healthier options such as thin crust and veggie toppings. Stay away from too many processed meats, thick crusts, and extra cheese on your pizza.

– Don’t order stuffed crust or thick crust
– Blot away all of that oil
– Stick to veggies
