1. Spend time in nature
Nature can have a calming and relaxing effect on your mind and body. Take 10 to 20 minutes out of your day to walk amongst nature.

2. Say no
Often times, you may feel the pressure to say yes to events or favors you really do not want to do. It’s fine if you want to help a friend or are looking forward to the arrangement – but if you have zero desire to go just say no! It may be hard in the moment but saying no will get easier with time. Many of us tend to please others rather than focus on what would be better for us.

3. Create something
Do you remember how creative you were during childhood? As we age, we tend to get stuck in our left brain. Get out of your left brain by creating a something. It can be anything such as a song, poem, craft, letter, or anything else you have a desire to build or create.

4. Notice something beautiful
Often times, we take note of all the things going wrong throughout the day. What if you shifted your focus from what is going wrong to what is going right? You can find a lot of incredible things to be thankful and grateful for – from your pet to the fact that you have food in your fridge.

5. Be kind to others
Being kind to others is very simple. You can open a door or smile at someone, as small as these acts are, acts of kindness can make a big difference to someone going through a hard time. Small acts of kindness should never be downplayed!
