There are some foods that will make you feel better than others. If you’re having a bad day, what if a piece of food could boost your mood and make you happy? If you are looking to feel better, you may want to incorporate these foods into your diet. You are what you eat, so it’s time to be happy because these foods below can take your day from drab to joyful.

1. Dark chocolate
Not only is dark chocolate delicious, it has the ability to make you happier. A piece of dark chocolate can give you an extreme antioxidant boost. Dark chocolate can even improve blood sugar levels and reduce the risk of developing diabetes. Remember, balance is key.

2. Mushrooms
Mushrooms taste great sautéed, grilled, or oven baked. They are great star in a dish or a savory bite in an appetizer. Not to mention, they’re rich in antioxidants which help protect the body from damaging free radicals. They’re also rich in antioxidants such as selenium.

3. Salmon
Salmon is a highly sought-after dinner dish. Savory, smooth, and pink – salmon has the ability to make you feel more joyful. Salmon is rich in omega-3 fatty acids. It is an excellent source of protein which is an essential macronutrient.

4. Quinoa
Quinoa comes in a small, soft package that packs a considerable health punch. It is one of the most protein rich foods you can eat. It contains iron, magnesium, lysine, and riboflavin. It has an extremely high content of manganese. Since it is a complex carbohydrate which keeps your blood sugar and energy levels steady. Blood sugar spikes can make you irritable and unfocused.

5. Fermented Foods
Research studies prove that consumption of fermented foods reduces behaviors inductive of anxiety and depression. Fermented foods consist of cultured milk, yoghurt, wine, beer, cider, tempeh, miso, kimchi, and sauerkraut.
