The weekend just passed and you have not been making the best decisions when it comes to your diet. There is no reason to beat yourself up about it – but you should make an effort to clean it up. Especially if you have been consuming a lot of sugary foods, alcohol, and junk it’s time to clean up your diet.
Slow Down On Alcohol
Alcohol is not good for your body. It dehydrates you and it’s hard on your liver. Nutritional experts recommend women should not exceed one drink per day and men should stay under two drinks per day. If you want to really be mindful, limit yourself to only a few nights to enjoy a drink.
Cut Back On The Salt
There’s nothing wrong with a pinch of salt, but many of us exceed the daily recommended amount of salt. It can bloat you and increase your risk of heart disease.
Add Fruits & Vegetables
Fruits and vegetables are rich in vitamins, minerals, and fiber. They’re colorful, delectable, and delicious. Aim to get two servings of vegetables per day and one serving of fruit per day. They are low calorie so you are able to eat high volume of these foods to ensure you’re satiated.
Cook At Home
You never really know how they prepare your food when you are out eating from restaurants and fast food chains. Let’s just say health isn’t their top concern majority of the time. Cooking at home is a very easy way to save money and ensure you’re eating a healthy, balanced meal.
Follow 80/20 Rule
Eating healthy is great for the majority of the time. But let’s be honest, you have certain foods that you crave and desire. There’s nothing wrong with indulging in a few of your favorite snacks or meals during the week. Try to stick to eating clean 80% of the time and indulging less than 20% of the time.
