Healthy Night Routine Tips

Night time is an excellent time to wind down and relax. Your body senses a need to slow down and kick back. If you start strong during the day with your health and fitness goals, don’t slacken up at night. Just because you’ve reached the end of the day doesn’t mean you can let up on the pressure! In fact, health is a marathon not a sprint. Luckily, it’s very easy to incorporate a healthy night routine into your life with any of the tips listed below:

Do Not Disturb
During the day, you are constantly bombarded by texts, emails, and different buzzes from the myriad of devices and phone applications you possess in this day and age. It is very important to wind down and set your phone on Do Not Disturb mode. You can set aside some precious time to yourself without getting torn in different directions. Technology can be a great tool, but it can also be a real cause of distress. It can be too over stimulating at times.

In fact, the surreal glow from technology can disrupt your sleep rhythms due to the hue of light that the monitors emit. A restless sleep can lead to a groggy next day. Better to avoid it all by putting your phone on do not disturb.

No Food After 9
You should stop consuming food at least a few hours before you sleep. Your body begins the laborious process of breaking the food down. Why would you want to over stimulate and work your body before bedtime?

If you’re feeling very hungry, try a very light snack such as a fruit or a vegetable. Avoid heavy foods that can make your stomach upset. It’s best to drink water or tea before bed.

Be Grateful
Going to sleep on a positive note is a great way to end the night. Despite all that happened throughout the day, you can always end your night on a positive note. It can be a prayer, mantra, or list of things you’re grateful for.

Don’t spend your last waking moments worrying and analyzing over the day after it has already come and went. Better to end on what will make you feel happy. In the grand scheme of things, it’s better to recall the good moments instead of the bad ones in life.
